GOLF VIDEO APP
Upload a swing filmed from behind and get it back with the ball flight traced on the video, plus a plain-language swing report: one thing to fix, one drill, and a score for every phase of the swing. A Next.js front end on a Python processing service — in private beta, ask for access.
Golf Shot Tracer is a working app. Upload a swing filmed from behind and it comes back with two things. First, the same video with the ball flight drawn on it — one clean line from the tee into the sky and down to where it lands, with the original sound kept. Second, a swing report: your #1 thing to work on with a drill, what you already do well, a score for Setup, Backswing, Top, Downswing, Impact and Finish, and a coach-style replay video with the body skeleton and freeze frames. No clicks are needed — the app finds the ball, the moment of impact and the far fairway by itself — and when a result is not right you can correct it with a tap. It is in private beta behind one shared password: ask for access.
This build is for golfers who film their swing on a phone and want more than a slow-motion replay — and for anyone building a product that turns a phone video into a measured, plain-language result.
Most phone golf apps either draw a line you cannot check or bury the swing under angles nobody can act on. This build goes after both.
A working two-part app: a static Next.js front end served from this site, and a Python processing service that does the tracing and the analysis.
| Section | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Automatic Setup | No clicks: ball, impact and fairway found for you. |
| The Shot Tracer | Tracked while visible, physics after. |
| Honest Results | Partial, amber or refused — never faked. |
| The Swing Report | One priority, one drill, a score you can trace. |
| The Coach Replay | Slow motion, skeleton, five freezes. |
| Fix It By Hand | Corrections without starting again. |
The interface is a dark room built around the video: everything else gets out of the way of the line.
Golfers upload from the phone they filmed on, so the phone is the main screen, not an afterthought.
The page is honest about where the app stands: a private beta, open to golfers who ask.
A few honest notes before you ask for access.
the pages are a static Next.js export served from this site; the processing runs in a Python service (FastAPI) on Google Cloud Run. ffmpeg decodes the clip with the phone’s rotation applied, OpenCV removes camera shake and finds the ball, a fitted 3D flight model finishes the line, and MediaPipe’s pose model tracks the body for the swing report. Before a build ships, a release check of about 500 tests runs — clips checked by eye, scoring references, and a sweep that proves a worse swing can never score higher.
carry distance, ball speed or hang time. A phone behind the golfer cannot see them reliably, so the tracer gives a shot shape — “started left, curved right” — and labels the descent as an estimate. Where the ball comes down on screen is fairly reliable; how fast it drops depends mostly on the carry you enter.
Captured from the real app on a real night swing — the upload, the fairway check, the traced shot and the swing report. Nothing here is a mock-up.

This build is for golfers who film their swing on a phone and want more than a slow-motion replay — and for anyone building a product that turns a phone video into a measured, plain-language result. The Who-this-is-for section above lists the three cases it fits most directly.
The screenshots on this page come from the real app. The app itself is a private beta behind one shared password: ask for access with the button at the bottom of the page and you can upload your own swings. There is no charge during the beta.
The exact production prompt that built Golf Shot Tracer — the art direction, the structure and the engineering notes as they were actually written. It is a one-time unlock in the prompt shop and it stays yours.
That is the intended path. Nothing ships as-is — the template is rebuilt around your brand, your copy and your goals. Start a project and describe what you are building.
Every section listed in the sidebar and in the overview table is built and working in the live preview. There are 6 of them, and each one is described in the Page Sections panel beside the article — expand any row to read what it does.
No. It runs in the browser on a phone or a computer, and the processing happens on the server. You only need the beta password.
The app is in private beta. Ask for access and I will send you the password — or tell me what you are building and I will rebuild it around your brand.
